Old-Fashioned Fun on the Farm

Loudoun’s farms and country stores will have you reliving your childhood memories and give your children or grandchildren memories to last them a lifetime, too!

Start your day with some fun on the farm at Great Country Farms, a 200-acre working farm in western Loudoun, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Bluemont. Take a hayride out to the fields to u-pick fruits and vegetables. Let the kids jump their hearts out on the 2,800 sq. foot Pumpkin Jumpin’ Pillow, feed the farm animals, and slide down the 60’ slides. Teach them how to catch and release fish or play chess with the giant chess set, and watch their smiles as they take a ride on the cow train. There is so much to do on this farm, you can easily spend the whole day there!

End your day with a special treat at an apple packing house turned country store that is famous across the country for its pies. Local residents and visitors alike travel far and wide to Hill High Country Store in Round Hill to choose from their 36 varieties. This family owned and operated store will remind you of country stores you visited as a child, with its candy and jellies, local produce and fruit, country gifts, and antiques. Take a picnic of their deli sandwiches or barbeque (and of course, slices of pie!) out by the pond and let the kids enjoy feeding the ducks. Don’t forget to take a whole pie home!
